TWST: Could you tell us about GSI Lumonics?
Mr. Winston: We are a publicly traded company with international product market areas. One is precision motion-control components, which is about 40% of our sales. Another area is laser systems, which represents about another 43% of our sales. Then the balance of our sales is in the manufacture and sales of the lasers themselves. We use the precision motion-control components and the lasers in building our own laser systems, but most of our design and production and marketing are for merchant market sales of the lasers and motion control products.

TWST: How strong are those markets today, given the economic downturn and the impact that it has had on most areas of business?
Mr. Winston: The markets for all three product areas have contracted somewhat. However, we did see the greatest impact in our laser systems which are designed specifically for semiconductor and electronic production. As everyone knows, the semiconductor and electronic markets ' especially the electronic markets serving wireless cell telephone manufacturers ' have been in a severe downturn for the last three years. That is showing some signs of moderate recovery as we speak.
