Mr. Szymborski: Kontron Mobile recently celebrated a decade of rugged innovation. We are dedicated to the development and sale of rugged portable computing solutions. Our computer platforms are designed for demanding field environments, meeting military standards for shock, vibration, moisture and temperature extremes. Our systems are designed with a modular configuration that allows expansion paths including desktop-like ISA/PCI computer card expansion slots, PC cards, serial ports, universal serial bus and custom modules. As a result, all platforms are flexible 'electronic toolboxes' that integrate the user's application'specific tools and technologies into one custom, rugged mobile solution.
TWST: Could you describe your product portfolio?
Mr. Szymborski: Our product line ranges from portable desktop
functionality to rugged convertible notebooks to in-vehicle
three-piece systems. Two factors remain consistent: first, the
systems we offer are built for users in the field and, second,
all of the systems are sold through channel partners. The
FieldWorks 8000 is a portable desktop-like system that has six
full-length ISA/PCI slots built into the backplane. This rugged
system built on a magnesium, highly anti-shock and vibration
chassis has been tested to military standards. It makes life a
lot easier for a person who needs desktop capability somewhere
other than the office. Its laptop style and custom designed
integrated mouse-pad ensures the FieldWorks 8000 user can be
mobile. We also offer this system in a PCI-only version called
the FieldWorks 8500. The Power Lite is similar to the FieldWorks
8000/8500, with less expansion capability. The Power Lite offers
a single ISA/PCI expansion card capability with a 14.1 inch XGA
display. The modular EnVoy computer is a three-piece system that
has a rugged server CPU, a keyboard and a display. The system is
designed to be mounted in vehicles such as police cars,
ambulances, utility trucks, humvees, tanks and military aircraft.
The version of the EnVoy that is targeted more toward the
military market is called the FieldWorks 2000 Series and meets
military specifications. Kontron Mobile recently announced our
newest product, the ReVolution, which is the first rugged
convertible system on the market. The ReVolution is a fully
Windows-capable computer that converts from notebook to tablet
with a quick flip of the rugged, 180-degree SwitchIt display
hinge. With the added benefits of ruggedness, upgradebility and
integrated wireless communication features, the ReVolution is in
a class by itself. The ReVolution's full magnesium construction
design is tested to US military and NEMA standards for resistance
to shock, vibration, water, temperature and dust. Our product
line consists of rugged computing platforms for people who work
in the field, in the vehicle or in the office and
