Mr. Marek: We were formed as a for-profit C-corporation in 1997 for the purpose of advancing the field of molecular electronics. Our interest and focus lie solely in the field of molecular electronics and its commercialization. We develop molecular electronic technologies and products to proof-of-concept and/or prototype stage for licensing and future joint venture development with strategic partners. The aim of this is to produce advanced products based on the advantages offered by molecular electronics and nanotechnologies. We're a technology company. Our products are nanotechnologies and the opportunity for our clients to participate through licensing and technology- advancement agreements in the development projects that will take these technologies to commercial applications.
TWST: What has been the funding and investment history of CALMEC?
Mr. Marek: To date, our funding has been through a combination of
US government grants including a Small Business Innovative
Research (SBIR) grant from the National Science Foundation,
private placement stock offerings, and an Internet-based direct
initial public offering. The Internet-based IPO was an SEC
authorized offering where we sold shares in the company directly
to the public through our Website. As a result of this direct
public offering, we are a public reporting company, although our
stock is not traded on an exchange at this time. All of our
investors to date are individuals. Currently, there are no
institutional investors in the company.
