Dr. Gerzberg: Zoran is in very fast-growing markets. We are a leader in the consumer electronics market, with a specific focus on the DVD market both playback and recordable DVDs ' the digital camera market and the converging applications in the consumers' living room. With a recent announcement, we've said that we are also entering the digital TV and the digital printing markets. Zoran has been around for 20 years as an innovator and pioneer leading the transition from analog to digital. We started as a digital signal processing company for high-end applications, and in the last decade, we've focused on the high-volume, fast- growing markets that improve the quality of our lives in the living room, in the office and on the road. We have industry- leading customers and partners worldwide. As a result of these relationships, we have gained a significant market share in the markets that we serve. Our customers include many well-known companies such as Toshiba, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp and Sony as well as some other companies in the digital camera area, including Konica/Minolta, Concord and Casio. We also have products in cameras made by Vivitar, Kodak, Polaroid and many others.
TWST: You mentioned the transition from analog to digital. Where are we
in that process?
Dr. Gerzberg: Actually, it is happening very fast. I think the best
example of the transition from analog to digital which started to occur
several years ago was the transition from the vinyl record player to the
compact disk. I don't think you'll find many homes anymore where music
is being played exclusively on record players. The transition has gained
momentum because of changes in the infrastructure and technology, which
is much more affordable now. In digital cameras, for example, last year
in 2002, more digital cameras were sold in the US than the equivalent
number of film cameras. I'm talking about 35 mm cameras, not disposable
cameras.
