TWST: Would you talk about your technology and give us an overview of Power Integrations?
Mr. Balakrishnan: We are the pioneer of high-voltage integrated circuits used in AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion. We have a high-voltage CMOS technology, and when I say high voltage, I mean most of our products are rated at about 700 volts, which is something most semiconductor companies don't have. This technology allows us to combine high-voltage MOSFETs with low-voltage control circuitry on the same chip. We are able to use this technology to integrate many components of power conversion circuits, or power supplies. This translates into a new class of smaller, lighter weight, and more energy efficient power supplies and adapters. With our technology, consumers no longer have to carry around those big, cumbersome 'bricks' to charge their cell phones, for example.

TWST: Which market segments do your products address?
Mr. Balakrishnan: We essentially can go into any power supply for any electronic device, whether it's an appliance or an office product. Anything that has electronics needs power, and if the power comes from the AC mains or it comes from a rechargeable battery, then it requires a power supply and becomes a candidate for our chip.
